My friend is Muslim, and at my Batmitzvah (the Jewish coming-of-age celebration) -when we were both twelve- I remember somebody commenting on how great it was to see Jewish and Muslim girls getting on so well.
Well, not that I disagree with the sentiment, but I just felt it was a bit... sad. It's sad that in this day and age, it's still a little bit of a surprise to see friends from two different ethnicities and cultures.
As is the very-relevant Israel/Palestine conflict- essentially just a huge land argument, which -when it comes down to it- is still unsolved, basically just because the two sides believe in different religions.
Personally, I'm pro-two state solution (which means that I think Israel should be divided between the Israelis and the Palestinians) but there are plenty of one-staters who still think that the whole problem can be solved by either Israel owning the whole country, or Palestine owning the whole country.
Which is completely illogical- because throughout time, it has been well documented that things do not get solved without compromise. Without some kind of agreement.
Without being friends.
Comment if you agree that people should just bloody get on, and stop fighting all of the time! Or if that's a bit deep for you, you can all just comment how nice my henna looks (and how you noticed that I'm wearing different earings for the first time since I got them pierced!).
