This is the 'Top 5 Things That You Thought Were Only From The Future And Didn't Really Exist But They Actually Do!' list!
What better way to kickstart the list than with a lightsaber?
I've done my research, and according to www.geeksaresexy.net (and a bunch of other more verified websites; I'm a journalist after all) lightsabers are here and could even be yours for $197.97 US dollars! A bargain!
And it's not just a toy! The The S3 Spyder III Arctic can light matches, cut through thick plastic with its laser, which is the strongest of its kind in the world. I'm impressed.
Okay, so we might not actually have flying cars just yet, but we certainly have the Maglev train! And that's basically the same thing. It's a train that hovers just slightly above the tracks, using super strong magnets which repel- thus making the train levitate slightly!
Personally, I think it's an incredibly smart idea- it reduces friction between the tracks and the train (because it's HOVERING) and therefore increases train speed, and... well it's just cool!
When I first heard about the iPad, one of the first things that came to my mind (other than "Oh boy, Apple are going to make a tonne on those") was the striking similarity between the concept of an iPad and that of the Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy.
Both are book sized, electronic, contain a world of knowledge and information (provided you have wifi with your iPad), and you can actually get a 'DON'T PANIC' cover, just like the one on the Hitcherhikers' Guide in the book, which is perfect for nerds like me!
This futuristic technology had a lot of press attention lately, when Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg brought the late rapper, Tupac, back to life with a hologram at a rap gig.
Using a complex set of mirrors and projectors, a moving, singing 3D projection of the rapper wowed audiences at Coachella in California.
I'm not really sure how I feel about the Tupac hologram- it's a pretty incredible feat, but I'm not sure I like the idea of bringing dead rappers back to life with them. Just a bit too creepy for me.
It's no secret that Japan are leading the way with their robot technology, creating incredibly life-like robots which talk, move and are incredibly smart.
And now, not only can these high-tech robots help us humans out with complex surgeries and space missions, they can also act.
Believe it or not, the girl in this photo is actually a robot, and a professional actress too! I've linked an interesting video about this story, below, in case you're interested.
So there it is! The Top 5 Things That You Thought Were Only From The Future And Didn't Really Exist But They Actually Do!
