Remember I said that we should have a go at the Beeb for daring to show the offensive documentary 'Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum'? Well, for those of you who aren't sure how to tell the BBC that they're angry about this, I've written a draft email which can be sent at this address: https://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/
Annoyingly, you do have to go through a few steps to get to actually sending the email, but I'll guide you through those too.
RE: Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum is an offensive, stereotyping show.
I was disgusted to see that BBC3 is showing 'Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum'- this is an offensive programme which stereotypes teenagers and portrays them as stupid and lazy. This programme is encouraging the stereotyping that teenagers experience constantly and is an embarassment to the BBC. This is not the attitude that the BBC should be showing. I expect the BBC's programmes not to be ageist and offensive and was very dissapointed that I did not find this from this show. I would like to hear what your manager is going to be doing to rectify this terrible mistake so that no more offense can be caused, regarding this issue.
Expectantly awaiting your reply,
At the link (https://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/forms/) there are a few steps which you have to go through to send this email. For those who are having difficulty navigating this part of the site, I have written instructions for getting to the right complaint section.
First, go to the link.
In each part, there is a multiple choice question about your complaint. In the first section, choose: Make a complaint.
In the second, choose Television.
In the third, choose your location (I really can't instruct you here, you just have to know where you live!)
In the fourth, choose BBC3.
In the fourth section, type "Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum".
In the fifth section, you have to fill in the transmission date. Due to the fact that we're complaining about the whole show not just one episode. Just type in 28-08-2011. This is just one date when 'Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum' was televised.
The sixth section is where you actually complain. Choose Offence in the first box.
Seventh (almost done, I swear!) is where you either write your own complaint or use my draft. Feel free to add your own comments to the draft!
Click 'Yes' I want a reply and choose whether or not you have contacted the BBC before. Then click the last answer box of this section. From there on, it's all personal details so you'll have to cope with that lot by yourself.
Thank you for emailing the BBC to complain! Together we can stop terrible and offensive programmes like this from being televised!
