And I, for one, will NOT be celebrating.
Having a monarchy is just so medieval! I mean, what does the queen actually do?? She's certainly not a big political player.
From what I can see, her sole duties seem to be: Playing with her corgis, eating expensive food with her stinking rich family, attending vaguely political international dinners that don't seem to achieve anything, and waving at the masses from inside plush cars- ALL PAID FOR BY THE TAXPAYER.
Frankly, I'm not sure I want her to have my money when I reach tax-paying age. I'd rather it went towards hospitals, or schools, or even an enormous national foam party. Anything but using it to pay for the last ten years of a pampered old lady's life and the holiday homes of her spoilt offspring!
And although royalists insist that the queen earns her keep by bringing in the tourists, I'm not so sure. People always overestimate how much money these things make, so I'm not convinced that the Jubilee celebrations will earn half as much money as expected.
What we really need to do with our lovely Queen Liz is get rid of her. I’m not saying we should throw them in a council flat like in ‘The Queen And I’- just put her into a nice five bedroom house in the suburbs (so that Harry, Wills and Kate could all stay over at Christmas) and then we could use her various palaces as tourist destinations, museums etc. I think that’s reasonable- it’s what a lot of other European countries have done!
So VIVA LA MOST REASONABLE REVOLUTION I'VE EVER HEARD OF! WHO'S WITH ME?
