We have it drilled into us from our very youth that December 31st is about partying, fun and drinking. We're meant to have an amazing time, and if you don't... well, you kind of suck.
Of course, a lot of the time, that enormous build-up can be far too great, and it all ends up being rather anti-climactic and dull - so my advice for tonight's partying is to turn up expecting the VERY worst (think post-apocalyptic survivor's convention, but with even less enthusiasm), and just have fun from there on in!
As far as I can see, there are two approaches to New Year's Eve.
1) Embrace the madness, and party 'til the morning comes (I call this the #YOLO approach)
2) Do nothing. Be that casual, chilled person who says: "Hey, I don't need to party, I can just have a relaxing night in, organising my toiletries, or cleaning up my filing cabinet - or maybe even watching a bit of 'The Killing' on series catch-up. The possibilities are endless!"
I'd probably put myself more in the first category, just because I like parties and meeting new people, and all that jazz.
But whichever category you're in, and whatever you're doing tonight, I wish you all a healthy, happy and fun-filled 2013!
