Now don't ask why, but we did! And whilst I was there, I saw something in the shop that made me really angry.
It's this mannequin.
If you don't already see what's wrong with this photo, then firstly I'm sorry for the terrible photo quality, I wasn't allowed to take pictures so this was the only one I got, and secondly... IT'S THE WAIST.
When I saw this model, all I could think was: THAT IS NOT A WAIST! IT'S NOT EVEN A STICK-THIN ANOREXIC GIRL'S WAIST- IT'S WORSE THAN THAT. IT'S LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A COMIC STRIP!
I mean, look at it. There basically isn't a waist on that mannequin!
And this is what Ann Summers deems sexy.
This completely ridiculous figure, which is in NO WAY alike to any woman's natural body? It's laughable, really!
But worse than that, it's upsetting. Women are being told that this is what we should look like. This is what we should aspire to be, so that men will find us attractive. And I know the 'golden rule' is that it's not all about boys, but well... sometimes a little attention can be nice. And if women think that this is what we need to look like to get that attention, well I think that's very sad indeed.
Anyway, I'm interested to hear your opinions on this- do you think that this as ridiculous as I do, or is it just a mannequin and I need to take a chill pill and count to ten? Maybe it's okay to have models like this- no one really thinks this is what womens' bodies look like, and we should all just calm down about this kind of thing? I really want to know what you all think, so comment your response below!
