No year is complete without having a good old think about what we’ve achieved. So without further ado, let’s get nostalgic!
Well, I realised what I want to do with my life pretty early on in the year- journalism- and then procrastinated until August, at which point I set up Not All About Boys. And I’ve written pretty much daily since then, which I am loving, and will continue to do into 2012!
Another plus of the year is that I made it half way through my GCSEs without committing hari-kiri. Admittedly, I haven’t always been happy about school, and have had my fair share of tears with exams and things over the past 365 days. But for the most part, I’ve had a decent enough time.
Also on the sad side, I lost my grandma in the summer which I’m pretty sure has changed me as a person. In Harry Potter there are creatures called Thestrals which can only be seen by those who have first-hand seen someone die, which is very interesting for a number of reasons. People who’ve lost loved ones do see the world slightly differently, so I would say that Nana’s death has had a serious impact on me- not just as a part of this year, but also on my life generally.
Going back to a far happier moment- finding out that I had got a distinction at Grade 6 Classical Singing. Definitely a highlight of the year.
Okay, so now it’s your turn. It doesn’t need to be long but comment below what you enjoyed most and least about the past year, or what you plan to do differently for next year.
Personally, I’m going to try and spend more time on my work and do more interesting things with friends, because I’m sick of just going to the cinema with my mates.
